Hi Tim:

Thanks for commenting, I agree that more people need to be aware of how truckers are demonized when in fact they risk their lives daily and live in conditions most people would find unbearable even for a single day in order to deliver the food, clothing and items that make their lives easier.

I have written Governor Schwarzenegger and I was advised my email was trunacated and if I could rewrite it and send it to a regular address.

Unfortunately with all the other events that have taken me by storm in the past few months I have yet to get back to that project.

Governor Schwarzenegger is on Twitter @Schwarzenegger and so is his Wife Maria @MariaShriver and they do follow back. I have found whoever operates his tag does interact with the public from time to time.

Also, the State of California has an Interactive link to contact the Governor HERE

When I first began writing about this last year it was because CARB issues I was informed of that were very aggressive yet taking little account into the human beings and their animal compadres who would be affected

There is also the disturbing comments I read which CARB Director Mary Nichols dismissed Truckers concerns in a snarky way to further treat these hard working folks like sub-humans which made me embarrassed for my Native California.

This Woman, Mary Nichols has her own cloudy origins as I later discovered from reading more her. I wondered what would prompt someone who says they care about the environment speak to human beings in the manner she did.

In this article from Oil Watchdog I found that Mary Nichols may have other priorities that affect her judgement.

Being that I also grew up very close to where this Woman lives I have a pretty good idea that she has become rather insulated from reality also.

Even people I have known my entire life have zero comprehension of what truckers endure to deliver goods, nor do they comprehend WHY Idling is done at all.

Another problem is that no one goes to bat for truckers in an effective way. You have groups selling memberships, and a few active truckers but they are not speaking in a manner that makes people understand. It's actually polarizing and detrimental so the general public does not see what the problem is.

What I do on Twitter is create a daily Adult picture book of my adventures to get the non-trucking community to understand I am a real person out here, I am not a demon.

I encourage all truckers to get more active to get attention to this and other problems in a diplomatic manner, the name calling is not going to advance support.

I believe Governor Schwarzenegger would absolutely Support "JasonsLaw" if he knew the severity of the problem from outside his inner circle. I think the idle issue, parking issue and infrastructure funding are timed perfectly right now & truckers deserve to be included in these projects.

Big Trucking does not care about the welfare of the drivers. Charging student drivers to stay warm in winter OR cool in Summer when they are making on average $50 a day a is WRONG!

Some Companies won't even permit a Lease Owner-Operator to BUY themselves an "Auxillary Power Unit" so these drivers are caught and given citations that they must pay for.

The EPA should stop patting itself on the back and realize that big trucking is making a joke out of them with these Idle laws and simply passing the cost to drivers who have very little means to find other jobs so they cannot complain.

More drivers are posting on the www.ripoffreport.com about being charged to idle in extreme conditions by the same companies who are accepting the "Smart Way - EPA Award" It's a total Sham.

I have written more about this on my Pickens Plan Blog in an Article called "The Truck Stop of the Future"

Great Article Desiree,
It is really annoying to be treated like second class citizens by some of the states and towns in this country. They simply don't seem to have a clue what we actually do out here. Most of them are sound asleep in their beds while we are still wandering around trying to find a parking spot, that is , "if" we can actually shut down in the cool of the night.
Have you sent this Articles link to Schwartenegger? I think he needs to read and heed as well as the Governors of New York, Texas, Illinois, etc.......
Hey Obama, How about spending some of that "Stimulus Money" on something that would actually do some good?

Thank you for this great and honest perspective. Drivers are forgotten in all aspects of "the greening" of America. I'm all for green, I'm so green, but I can't go out on the road to support my truck driver husband without AC.
