Dear Lightweight,

I understand the skepticism. We live in a society where the critics get the attention and the people trying to do the work get the ridicule. It is difficult to watch the evening news and feel like there is any point. Living this experience it is easy to see how someone can go from simply having a healthy skepticism to flying a plane into a government building.

I’m not going to spend my time explaining why I support this energy plan over others or defending @TruckerDesiree ‘s excellently written and researched article. I won’t due any of that because you have already made up your mind and in a brief few sentences you clearly state your opinion. You’ve already decided that anyone who disagrees with you is adopting “junk science” and are pawns in some great conspiracy to turn this country into a dictatorship. Your opinion is a reflection of your decision to buy into political paranoia and adopt a position of intellectual dishonesty.

As such, convincing, educating or discussing the issues or the topic is a complete waste of time. You’ve made up your mind and I can only imagine what you think is the solution. The thought scares me more than any terrorist or one world government. In your worldview there is no room for error. It is black and white thinking.

It is tragic because there are a lot of people like @TruckerDesiree and Pickens that are trying to make a difference in this country and are not stuck in the mindset of martyrdom or victimhood. They are not stuck in the delusion that we are doomed. Instead of blame, they take responsibility. They do not hide from the crisis but see it for what it is – an opportunity to demonstrate what is best about humanity. By seeing only the worse in people and institutions you become part of the problem and offer no real solutions.

So I made the time to write this not for you – you are hiding in your bomb shelter - but for them, and the millions like them, who get up every day working to make it a better day and a better country.

@TruckerDesiree, thank you for a well written article and a well written response. Pickens, thank you for putting your money where your mouth is.

Dear Lightweight:

Thank you for commenting on the reprint of this story. It was originally posted on my blog on the Pickens Plan website where a Trucking Discussion Group has been set up.

   T. Boone Pickens is formerly an Oilman to my knowledge who studied Geology, therefore he is quite aware of what Natural Resources lie in the ground beneath our vision.

He is also a Capitalist in a country where many are screaming that the sky is falling from Socialism.

  T. Boone Pickens dosen't need to follow the money, he already has more than he can spend. He also spent a good deal of his personal money to invest in the Pickens Plan. I believe he is about 80 years old so a dictatorship would not be a shrewd business decision. He is no dummy.

This is a self made man and I respect that. Business is not for the weak at heart. It can often be much like a huge chess game and most people cannot appreciate the strategy it takes to make one deal happen.

I often hear people complain about T. Boone Pickens being rich. I find it curious that we celebrate mediocrity more than someone who kicks ass and takes names. Yes, I have heard all the bad things people say about him but I've heard them about many other business men who are trying to make a buck. Many motivated purely by greed and delivering zero product.

I grew up watching the Pacific Coastline torn apart by over development, oil derricks on the coastline. I also spent time on many Indian Reservations & in Hawaii where I learned how Native peoples have had their lands taken from them time and again because of the riches that were found under the soil. GREEDY Businessman stole those lands. I know this...

There are things we cannot correct now. There are things that have been done in the past to the land that most people cannot fathom and it will eventually jump up and bite us in the ASS!!!

Continuing to buy foriegn oil from people who hate us is more important to me at this point and everyone who lives on American Soil should start understanding that fact.

Whoever can make money from creating American Independence from Foriegn Oil will do so and they will wrangle with each other as they always have.

This post is about American Opportunities for people who have a choice to either stop being crybabies OR BUY from Foriegn Opportunists who WILL see the future and make money from us.

Does it occur to you that we actually fund our own demise when we buy products made from other lands who do not like us?

People who recognize the opportunities will make money from new innovations and crybabies will not.

Human Beings have done some irrepairable damage to the Earth in a number of ways. We have a history of harming both this planet and indigenious people in order to rape resources for profit.

Science is not a factor here for me. American Independence is.

I am Mexican, Irish, English and small amount on Seneca Indian. I am American and at the end of the day if T.Boone Pickens can get us OFF Foriegn Oil from the resources we have he on our soil, I am 100% in Support of that.

I SUPPORT MADE IN U.S.A
