Not sure Height has anything to do with it. I know a woman whose husband is short in stature, perhaps maybe an inch difference than you and he does a fine job.
The landing gear at times is a pain in the butt to turn if the crank has been stripped or if the legs get cockeyed but the are ways to fix it even when you are alone.
Leverage, Determination …. these things will see you through many obstacles in life.
Thank you…For what you’re doing.
Never heard of you until today, however, certainly glad that I heard of you now.
I am a newbie, yes-yes, a loser in another life perhaps as some will see it, not me.
A secret trucker at heart for years and years, (Shhh…)
As I enter this industry, my research has unveiled many disappointing (Factual) occurrences in the trucking industry. So Sad. Seems all my dreams went down the drain within one reading of the Truckers Report. (Yeah, Whatever) Anyway, to lighten the load- it’s good to see someone doing something about something-anything. You’ve hit a home run in to the hearts of many I’m sure-not just mine. Thank you, perhaps sometime we’ll cross paths and I can pat you on the back. Of course you’ll probably never here of me, because I’m still trying to come up with an interesting radio name. Perhaps my radio name should be, “Short Story.” But actually, I’m 6ft. 3″ – so, I don’t want to paint the wrong picture over the airwaves. Ok, so I was never a stand up comic, but I try any way.
Something to leave you with….My own personal mission statement (in the works)
All the roads we prefer to drive are winding…
All the leaps we need to take are for finding…
A very old man once told me, “The great depression changed me in many ways.” A collegiate at heart and in my own mind; I spoke to him metaphorically. For what is it then, to only see the beauty of a long and winding river if it is only to narrow as it reaches the distant horizon.
The problem in trucking today is so few stand up to the big companies. So few demand fairness, and as we all know respect out here has been too far gone for way too long. And we face these things daily. I am a male driver and it sickens me how some of the drivers out here treat lady drivers. I cant imigane having to live with it onboard the truck! I appluad your efforts, and hope to see changes in the way the industry recognizes and responds to women in trucking.
I think this group and Desiree are doing great things. My older Brother was an over the road trucker but now deceed. He share stories with me about the open hand he offered to folks along the way that needed help. If he could do it, they received it. It’s great to read about this community and all the good things they do. I regret there are generalizations about truckers…. it’s not true, it’s not fair, and it hurts honest, strong people that keep people like me alive through the work they do.
